Some things I'm enjoying

I'm about to take off for a weeklong work trip to Taiwan, so here is a smattering of things I'm enjoying this week. Last week there was precious little running and six days of frenzied working.

1. This New York Times article reminds us that there are equally dedicated runners of all races and income levels. (It's just run blogging that's particularly middle-class, I guess.)

2. Terzah's post on BQing at 40 during the Chicago Marathon is one of the best I've ever read. More inspiration to us dreamers.

3. I'm currently reading Daniyal Mueenuddin's 'In Other Rooms, Other Wonders' (short story collection) and this month's Scientific American.

4. Last week I almost ran into the owner of my favourite local running shop out walking his dog. I very nearly ran away from him because I was wearing a pair of running shoes I hadn't bought at the shop, but fortunately I don't think he recognised me.

  1. Why would you ran away from the owner of the running shop? he would only worry if you stop running Grace. anyway for the chaffing of the thigh.. try some body glide.. see if it helps and have a great trip ok.

    1. Thanks! Taipei CBD is a terrible place for running.

Yeah, you're right. And I'm not going to stop running, so they will continue to get my shoe $$. As for the chafing, I just forgot my bodyglide that day - silly me, not gonna do it again :)

  2. Have fun in Taiwan. And don't eat any of that stinky tofu - I saw some comedians do it on a TV program last year and there was a lot of gagging and dry retching involved.

    1. Don't worry Char - I'm Chinese, we're immune... ;) (but there ARE things I don't quite like - eg Brussels sprouts and chicken feet.) some of my fellow foreign journalists are having a tougher time though.

  3. Uh...HE probably wears shoes that he didn't buy at his shop sometimes, too. And when I go in to chat with him, I wear shoes that I didn't buy at his shop. He still talks to me. Crazy pants.

Run blogging is also incredibly female. I'd love a little more gender equity.
